Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov held a number of meetings within the 3rd Azerbaijan-Türkiye Energy Forum and the International Conference “Nakhchivan - Green Energy Zone”.

At the meeting with the Chairman of the Board of ACWA Power Mohammed Abunayyan, the progress of work on the implementation of the Khizi-Absheron wind plant with a capacity of 240 MW, the next steps to be taken, as well as the implementation of onshore and offshore wind power plants with a total capacity of 2.5 GW for export purposes were discussed. In this context, the importance of the calendar of events for the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project and the 200 MW onshore wind project (Road Map) signed today between the Azerbaijan Renewable Energy Agency and ACWA Power was discussed.

At the meeting with TEPSCO CEO Kojima Hideo, the development of cooperation with the company was reviewed. TEPSCO, which will take part in monitoring of the Green Energy Zone in the liberated territories, expressed interest in long-term cooperation with Azerbaijan. The company also expressed its intention to cooperate in developing the concept of the Green Energy Zone of Nakhchivan.

Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov also met with Chairman of the Board of Baltech Energy Bulent Karani. The company proposed cooperation on 100 MW wind power plant in Karabakh and 50 MW solar power plant in Nakhchivan. In this regard, the necessary issues were considered.

At the meeting with the Global Head of Energy of McKinsey & Company Thomas Vahlenkamp, the subject of discussions was the situation in the world energy market, global energy prospects, Azerbaijan's role in the energy security of Europe and projects implemented in the field of renewable energy. It was reported that the largest solar power plant in the region with a capacity of 230 MW will soon be commissioned. Projects related to the export of green energy and green gas from the Caspian Sea to Europe and from Nakhchivan to Türkiye were assessed as contributions to energy security and measures taken against climate change. It was noted that McKinsey & Company is ready to support Azerbaijan in the process of energy transition.
