Energy partnership with China was discussed
Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov received Ms. Lu Mei, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Azerbaijan.
The meeting discussed the current status and prospects for the development of energy cooperation between Azerbaijan and China, as well as a number of ongoing and planned projects.
During the meeting, it was noted that the 100 MW solar power plant project being implemented by Universal International Holdings Limited in the Gobustan district would contribute to the efficient utilisation of Azerbaijan’s renewable energy potential and the achievement of the country’s energy transition targets.
The parties also touched upon the study of Azerbaijan’s electricity grid being conducted by China’s Electric Power Planning & Engineering Institute (EPPEI). It was noted that the findings of the study would play an important role in the future development of Azerbaijan’s energy sector.
In addition, cooperation within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, including upcoming activities in China, was reviewed, and views were exchanged on other issues of mutual interest related to the further development of the Azerbaijan-China energy partnership.
