Hydropower as a type of clean energy

Hydropower, obtained as a result of the conversion of kinetic energy of water flows into electrical energy, is a type of clean energy widely used in the world. The main advantage over other sources of green energy is that hydropower plants can produce energy all day long.

According to the International Renewable Energy Agency, the global installed hydropower capacity was 1393 GW in 2022. China (414 GW), Brazil (110 GW) and the United States (103 GW) are the countries with the most hydropower production in the world.

At present, the installed hydropower capacity in Azerbaijan is 1177 MW.
