World Maritime Day

September 26 is World Maritime Day. This day was established in 1978 according to a UN decision and is celebrated annually on the last Thursday of September. The purpose of the creation of  World Maritime Day is to draw the attention of the world community to the protection of water bodies and its bioresources, to reduce harmful anthropogenic impacts.
