Wave energy
Wave energy is an environmentally friendly type of energy obtained from the movement of waves created by the wind on the surface of the oceans and seas. In this case, the kinetic energy generated by the waves is converted into electricity through special turbines.
This inexhaustible source of energy can reduce the need for hydrocarbon fuels in the future and prevent environmental pollution. Although the costs for the construction of such power plants are very high, the operating costs are low.
According to the report of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), in 2022 the installed capacity of wave energy in the world was only 523 MW. Wave energy technology is mostly applied in European and Asian countries.
