26 January is International Day of Clean Energy. The day established last year marks the establishment of the International Renewable Energy Agency on 26 January 2009.

The main purpose of celebrating this special day is to combat climate change, reduce carbon emissions and to emphasize the importance of using renewable energy sources for a sustainable energy transition.

Important work is also being done in our country towards the clean energy transition and the introduction of green technologies. Green energy production expansion is among our national priorities for socio-economic development until 2030, and by the end of the decade it has been set as a goal to increase the share of renewable energy sources in electricity generation to 30%. 2024 has been declared the Green World Solidarity Year in our country. Also this year Baku will host the 29th Session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29).
