In the I half of 2019 the working group for the “Strategic Road Map on Development of Utilities (electricity and thermal energy, water and gas) in the Republic of Azerbaijan” held 2 meetings and the sub-working groups for the priorities of the strategic road map held 4 meetings, where the Ministry of Energy was the coordinator and the main executor of 23 events.

At the 6th "OPEC Plus" Ministerial Meeting in Vienna, a Charter on long-term cooperation between OPEC member countries and non-OPEC members was adopted. Then an agreement was reached to extend the deadline of the agreement on the reduction of oil production for another 9 months.

Today at the 15th meeting of the Joint Ministerial Monitoring Committee of the OPEC Plus member countries in Vienna, it was proposed to extend the deadline for executing the “Declaration of Cooperation” to reduce oil production without changing the existing quotas for another 9 months.

The country which will host 24th World Petroleum Congress in 2023 was determined at the meeting of World Petroleum Council in Saint-Petersburg. Canada was selected over Azerbaijan by only one vote in the voting with the participation of 41 members of the World Petroleum Council.
