The next meeting of the Working Group on the implementation of the Strategic Road Map Action Plan on Development of Utilities (electricity and thermal energy, water and gas) in the Republic of Azerbaijan on the summary of current year was held. Underlining the necessity of drawing up and presenting the reports in accordance with the new rules by taking the final assessments into account, Samir Valiyev, the chairman of the working group and deputy Minister of Energy stated that the timely and high-quality implementation of the activities specified in the strategic road map, which are expected to be finished by the end of the year is the priority.

The meeting focused on the activities implemented on all articles of the Strategic Road Map Action Plan for 2019. It was noted that new draft laws "On Power Engineering", "On Gas Supply", "Water Supply and Waste Water", rules for the use of thermal energy were developed and are in the process of approval to create an advance regulatory framework in the utilities sector. A Rehabilitation Program has been developed to increase the lifetime of power plants and increase production capacity, and the creation of additional production facilities. Furthermore, the relevant actions were taken to increase the quality of power supply, new counters were installed to reduce the losses and Guidance for the identification of the source (direction to source) that misinterpret the quality indicators of the electricity and for the supervision of the key quality indicators of the electricity was developed.  

At the meeting, discussions were held on the review of electricity consumption forecasts, the improvement of tariffs for heat supply, the development of a master plan for modernization of energy supply and other issues.

The representatives of the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, SOCAR, "Azerenergy" OJSC, "Azerishig" OJSC, "Azeristiliktechizat” , "Azersu" OJSC and other organizatiions attended at the meeting.
