A memorial ceremony was held at the Ministry of Energy on the occasion of the 31st Anniversary of the Khojaly Tragedy. The event was attended by the staff of the Ministry and subordinate bodies.

First, the memory of the victims of the Khojaly Tragedy and our martyrs was commemorated with a minute of silence. In his speech Deputy Minister of Energy Elnur Soltanov spoke about the tortures and crimes committed on the night of February 25-26, 1992 during the attack of Armenian military units on the city of Khojaly with the participation of the 366th Regiment of the former Soviet army. It was noted that the Khojaly Genocide was one of the most terrible pages in the history of Azerbaijan, and it was emphasized that this tragedy was called the tragedy of not only Azerbaijan and Azerbaijanis, but of all mankind.

At the event, the important steps taken to demonstrate the Khojaly Genocide to the world were brought to the attention. It was noted that on the initiative of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev, on February 24, 1994, the Azerbaijani parliament adopted a decision on the Day of the Khojaly Genocide. At the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, "Justice for Khojaly" campaigns were implemented, recognition of the Khojaly Tragedy by a number of countries and international organizations, international political assessment of the tragedy and adoption of important documents related to it were achieved.

It was also emphasized that the terrible crimes and atrocities committed by the Armenians could not break the determination of our people to fight. Under the leadership of the president of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, our army liberated our occupied lands in 2020 as a result of the 44-day Patriotic War, not leaving the blood of our martyrs on the ground. With the glorious victory achieved, our army also avenged the Khojaly martyrs.

At the event, speeches of other employees of the Ministry on the Khojaly Tragedy were heard, and a video clip dedicated to the Khojaly Genocide was demonstrated.
