According to operational data on electricity over January-August 2021, electricity production in Azerbaijan amounted to 2767.4 million kWh, exports - 150.6 million kWh, and imports - 10.5 million kWh in July. In comparison with the same period in 2020, electricity production in August increased by 611.2 million kWh, exports by 49.1 million kWh while imports were same.

In January-August of the current year, electricity production in the country increased by 1109.7 million kWh in comparison with the same period last year and amounted to 18612.4 million kWh.

During the reporting period, electricity generation at TPPs increased by 994.2 mln kWh reaching to 17409.7 mln kWh, at HPPs increased by 120.3 mln kWh reaching to 966.9 mln kWh, and at other sources (WPP, SPP and Solid household waste plant) decreased by 4.8 mln kWh reaching to 235.8 mln kWh in comparison with same period last year.  58.6 mln kWh of electricity was generated at WPPs, 38.0 mln kWh at SPPs, and 139.2 mln kWh at the Solid Household Waste Incineration Plant.

In January-August electricity generation made up 16737.1 million kWh on "Azerenergy" OJSC (15892.7 million kWh at TPPs, 844.4 mln kWh at HPPs), 312.3 mln kWh on State Energy Agency of Nakhchivan AR (165.7 mln kWh at TPPs, 111.6 mln kWh at HPPs, 35.0 mln kWh at SPP), 43.1 mln kWh at WPPs on Azerishig OJSC, and 1519.9 million kWh on Independent PPs.

Electricity exports increased by 142.2 mln kWh compared to the same period 2020, amounting to 971.9 mln kWh. 238.9 mln kWh electricity was exported to Iran, 164.1 mln kWh to Turkey, 63.7 mln kWh to Russia, 505.2 mln kWh to Georgia.

During this period, electricity imports increased by 15.9 mln kWh compared to the same period last year, amounting to 110.6 mln kWh. 22.4 mln kWh was imported from Iran, 63.5 mln kWh from Russia, 24.7 mln kWh electricity from Georgia.
