The next meeting of the Commission on the implementation of pilot projects in the field of use of renewable energy sources was held
The second meeting of the Commission established by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan No. 1673 dated 5 December 2019 on additional measures for the implementation of projects in the field of use of renewable energy sources was held in the updated version.
Chair of the Commission, Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov said while delivering a speech that investment attractiveness of the economy of the country is at a high level as a result of the purposeful economic policy carried out under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev and for this, "green energy" projects are realized at the expense of foreign investments. Speaking about the issues on the agenda of the meeting, the Minister gave information on the work done by the Commission over the past period and the upcoming tasks.
Director of the Azerbaijan Renewable Energy Agency under the Ministry of Energy Javid Abdullayev made a presentation on the work done since the previous meeting of the Commission. Information was provided on the activities of the Working Group consisting of authorized employees of the bodies represented at the Commission, identification of areas intended for the implementation of solar, wind, as well as offshore wind energy projects, demining works, integration of projects into the network, procedures for issuing construction permits.
After that, presentations by the representatives of the Masdar regarding the Garadagh SPP, which is being implemented, and the large-scale project planned for implementation in the future, by representatives of the ACWA Power on the Khizi-Absheron WPP, by the representatives of bp on the implementation of the Shafag SPP were made. Fortescue Future Industries presented the proposals for the production and export of green hydrogen.
At the end of the meeting, the draft decision on the outcomes of the meeting was discussed and signed by taking into account the opinions and proposals.
Representatives of the ministries of Energy, Economy, Finance, Justice, Ecology and Natural Resources, Emergency Situations, Defence, Agriculture, Digital Development and Transport, the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture, the Central Bank, the Azerbaijan Renewable Energy Agency, the Mine Action Agency, SOCAR, Azerenergy OJSC, Azerishiq OJSC, as well as executive authorities of Garadagh district of Baku city, Gakh, Neftchala, Gobustan and Absheron districts, and Masdar, ACWA Power, bp and Fortescue Future Industries participated in the meeting.
