Minister of Energy of Azerbaijan met with Kadri Simson and Patrick Pouyanne in Vienna

During his visit to Vienna, the Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov met with the European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson, and the Chairman and CEO of TotalEnergies Patrick Pouyanne.

At the meeting with the European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson, the sides exchanged views on the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding between Azerbaijan and the European Union on Strategic Partnership in the Field of Energy, as well as opportunities for cooperation on the Energy Dialogue Platform represented by various market participants in order to successfully implement the energy transition and energy security.

 The current situation on the expansion of the Southern Gas Corridor and the construction of pipeline infrastructure in Europe was reviewed and the importance of strengthening efforts to accelerate the processes was emphasized. 

At the meeting with the Chairman and CEO of TotalEnergies Patrick Pouyanné, the matters of developing the Absheron gas condensate field and implementing the solar and wind projects with a total capacity of 500 MW were discussed. The importance of cooperation with TotalEnergies in the implementation of Azerbaijan's green energy course was emphasized and it was noted that, in this aspect, the implementation of 250 MW wind and 250 MW solar power plants in Nakhchivan, as well as energy storage systems projects will contribute to the green energy cooperation.
