Electricity production in the country increased in January
According to operational data on electricity in January 2021, electricity production in Azerbaijan amounted to 2369.0 million kWh. In comparison with the same period in 2020, electricity production in January increased by 21.2 million kWh.
During the reporting period, electricity generation at TPPs increased by 7.1 mln kWh reaching to 2260.0 mln kWh, at HPPs increased by 13.6 mln kWh reaching to 78.9 mln kWh, and at other sources (WPP, SPP and Solid household waste plant) increased by 0.6 mln kWh reaching to 30.19 mln kWh in comparison with January last year. 9.39 mln kWh of electricity was generated at WPPs, 2.1 mln kWh at SPPs, and 18.7 mln kWh at the solid household waste incineration plant.
In January 2021, electricity generation made up 2142.76 mln kWh on "Azerenergy" OJSC (2071.3 mln kWh at TPPs, 71.46 mln kWh at HPPs), 30.4 mln kWh on State Energy Agency of Nakhchivan AR (22.0 mln kWh at TPPs, 6.5 mln kWh at HPPs, 1.9 mln kWh at SPP), 6.87 mln kWh on WPPs on "Azerishig" OJSC , and 189.0 mln kWh on Independent PPs).
Electricity imports increased by 1.8 mln kWh compared to the same period 2020, amounting to 11.0 mln kWh. 3.3 mln kWh was imported from Iran, 7.7 mln kWh from Russia, 0.004 mln kWh electricity from Georgia.
During this period, electricity exports increased by 61.6 mln kWh compared to the same period last year, amounting to 175.1 mln kWh. 3.4 mln kWh electricity was exported to Iran, 12.7 mln kWh to Turkey, 7.2 mln kWh to Russia, 151.8 mln kWh to Georgia.
