The Deputy Minister of Energy Samir Valiyev represented Azerbaijan at the first meeting of energy ministers of the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation Program (CAREC) in Tashkent. A Joint Declaration envisaging the cooperation on the development and implementation of the “CAREC Energy Strategy 2030” was signed at the meeting of ministers. 

Samir Valiyev also participated at the Energy Investment Forum (EIF). The Deputy Minister attended at the discussions on “Global Energy Transition: Challenges, Solutions and Opportunities for Regional cooperation” and “Energy Sector Reforms as a Catalyst for Optimal Investment Conditions”.  

Samir Valiyev spoke about the importance of cooperation on renewable energy and energy efficiency, which play an important role in the energy transformation process. The oil and gas country Azerbaijan is interested in the use of environmentally friendly technologies and renewable energy and saving energy resources. The Deputy Minister noted that in our country complex reforms have been launched to accelerate this process and ensure the participation of the private sector in the energy field. Samir Valiyev said that Azerbaijan is a reliable partner for investors. This is approved by success of 25 years of cooperation in the oil and gas sector, and  investment of more than $ 100 billion in this area up to now: “Nowadays we are trying to learn international experience that renewable energy sector in Azerbaijan will also be attractive to investors, and to achieve the reduction of carbon emissions at the expense of environmentally friendly energy, more efficient management“, said the Deputy Minister of Energy Samir Valiyev.
