According to operational data on electricity over January-October 2021, electricity production in Azerbaijan amounted to 2168.8 million kWh, exports - 125.8 million kWh, and imports - 10.3 million kWh in October. In comparison with the same period in 2020, electricity production in October increased by 273.1 million kWh, exports by 66 million kWh while imports decreased by 0.4 million kWh.

In January-October of the current year, electricity production in the country increased by 1554.4 million kWh in comparison with the same period last year and amounted to 22855.8 million kWh. During the reporting period, electricity generation at TPPs increased by 1394.8 mln kWh reaching to 21458.6 mln kWh, at HPPs increased by 162.5 mln kWh reaching to 1108.9 mln kWh, and at other sources (WPP, SPP and Solid household waste plant) decreased by 2.9 mln kWh reaching to 288.3 mln kWh in comparison with corresponding 10 months last year. 77.0 mln kWh of electricity was generated at WPPs, 48.5 mln kWh at SPPs, and 162.8 mln kWh at the Solid Household Waste Incineration Plant.

In January-October electricity generation made up 20504.3 million kWh on "Azerenergy" OJSC (19525.3 million kWh at TPPs, 979.0 mln kWh at HPPs), 379.1 mln kWh on State Energy Agency of Nakhchivan AR (216.8 mln kWh at TPPs, 117.4 mln kWh at HPPs, 44.9 mln kWh at SPP), 56.7 mln kWh at WPPs on Azerishig OJSC, and 1915.7 million kWh on Independent PPs.

During 10 months of 2021, electricity exports increased by 254.9 mln kWh compared to the same period of 2020, amounting to 1156.0 mln kWh.  252.8 mln kWh electricity was exported to Iran, 318.6 mln kWh to Turkey, 79.1 mln kWh to Russia, 505.5 mln kWh to Georgia.

During this period, electricity imports increased by 15.8 mln kWh compared to the same period last year, amounting to 130.8 mln kWh. 27.3 mln kWh was imported from Iran, 78.9 mln kWh from Russia, 24.6 mln kWh electricity from Georgia.
