According to operational data on electricity over January-July 2021, electricity production in Azerbaijan amounted to 2639.03 million kWh, exports - 153.5 million kWh, and imports - 11.2 million kWh in July. In comparison with the same period in 2020, electricity production in July increased by 244.2 million kWh, exports by 246.0 million kWh while imports decreased by 1.5 million kWh.

During seven months of the current year, electricity production in the country increased by 498.5 million kWh in comparison with the same period last year and amounted to 15845.0 million kWh.

During the reporting period, electricity generation at TPPs increased by 395.9 mln kWh reaching to 14754.8 mln kWh, at HPPs increased by 102.9 mln kWh reaching to 877.4 mln kWh, and at other sources (WPP, SPP and Solid household waste plant) decreased by 0.3 mln kWh reaching to 212.8 mln kWh in comparison with same period last year.  55.4 mln kWh of electricity was generated at WPPs, 32.2 mln kWh at SPPs, and 125.2 mln kWh at the Solid Household Waste Incineration Plant.

In January-July electricity generation made up 14227.5 million kWh on "Azerenergy" OJSC (13463.6 million kWh at TPPs, 763.9 mln kWh at HPPs), 263.9 mln kWh on State Energy Agency of Nakhchivan AR (131.2 mln kWh at TPPs, 103.2 mln kWh at HPPs, 29.5 mln kWh at SPP), 41.04 mln kWh at WPPs on Azerishig OJSC, and 1312.56 million kWh on Independent PPs.

Electricity exports increased by 94.2 mln kWh compared to the same period 2020, amounting to 822.4 mln kWh. 152.3 mln kWh electricity was exported to Iran, 109.1 mln kWh to Turkey, 56.1 mln kWh to Russia, 504.9 mln kWh to Georgia.

During this period, electricity imports increased by 15.9 mln kWh compared to the same period last year, amounting to 100.1 mln kWh. 19.6 mln kWh was imported from Iran, 55.8 mln kWh from Russia, 24.7 mln kWh electricity from Georgia.
