A meeting with a delegation of Indian businessmen led by Executive Director of the Refex group which operates in the field of alternative energy was held at the Ministry of Energy.

Executive Director of the “Refex” Group Anil Jain noted that he is interested in cooperation in alternative and renewable energy sectors, along with many spheres in Azerbaijan. It was noted that Refex Energy was founded in India to develop solar energy. The company provides explotation and technical services for solar energy projects and provides a set of proposals, including modern engineering, purchase and construction services for the construction of a photovoltaic solar power plant.

Deputy Minister of Energy Samir Valiyev said that the development of alternative and renewable energy and implementation of projects in this field is one of the main obligationd of the Ministry of Energy. It was noted that there is a great opportunity for the development of renewable energy in the country, and availability of favorable climatic conditions in the use of solar and wind energy allows the implementation of projects in this direction. S.Valiyev informed about works done in the field of renewable energy, selection of relevant areas, conducting of measurements in these areas. It was noted that the legislative base is being drafted in this area, and it is planned to hold auctions on renewable energy in the middle of next year. In this regard, meetings with potential investors are held and aspects of the future work are discussed. It was noted that Azerbaijan fulfills its commitments at the international level, and the protection of the environment, the development of renewable energy sources in terms of efficient and cost-effective use of traditional energy sources is important to increase the attractiveness of this area for investors.

During the meeting, the guests` questions were answered on the renewable energy potential, work done in the field of wind and solar energy, and opportunities for cooperation between the two countries were discussed.
