The board meeting on the acceleration of reforms in the energy sector was held at the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan

The next board meeting was held at the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan under the chairmanship of the Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov. At the meeting discussions are held by the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan on implementation of the tasks outlined by the Presidential Decree No. 1209 dated May 29, 2019 "On the acceleration of reforms in the energy sector of the Republic of Azerbaijan".

Azerbaijan`s Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov said that this decree creates a basis for the development of the energy sector in the line of comprehensive and up-to-date requirements, and the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan is responsible for making proposals for reforms in this area:

 “"The decree envisages specific time frames for the preparation of proposals on power-engineering, renewable energy, gas, heat supply, efficiency, as well as the “Long-term Development Strategy of the Energy Sector of the Republic of Azerbaijan" and relevant legislation. Taking into consideration international experience, working groups should be set up in a short time in all directions, concrete tasks should be defined, and Action Plan should be adopted, "said the Minister Parviz Shahbazov.

At the meeting, the board members` suggestions were heard upon their assigned duties and gave relevant instructions to the relevant structural units of the ministry.

At the end of the meeting, it was decided to prepare a Plan of Action on the implementation of tasks arising from the Presidential Decree dated 29 May 2019 "On acceleration of reforms in the energy sector of the Republic of Azerbaijan" and creation of working groups.
