Ministry of Energy and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development discussed the project “Support to Renewable Energy Auctions in Azerbaijan”

A meeting with the delegation of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development was held at the Ministry of Energy with the participation of the representatives of the Energy Regulatory Agency, the State Agency for Alternative and Renewable Energy Sources.

The event was organized within the framework of cooperation between the Ministry of Energy of the country and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development to discuss the work to be done and proposals for the project “Support to Renewable Energy Auctions in Azerbaijan”. The aims of the project were  to increase the share of renewable energy in the country's energy balance, achieve energy security through diversification of energy sources, ensure efficient use of the country's renewable energy capacity, apply incentive framework in this field.  

Deputy Minister of Energy Samir Valiyev spoke about the work done in the field of renewable energy sources, and underlined the importance of developing a regulatory base for the field, the determination of renewable energy zones, and the importance of cooperation with potential investors.

Then, the head of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Adil Hanif gave information on the project “Support to Renewable Energy Auctions in Azerbaijan”, and presented the members of the Working Group on the project, which was established by EBRD.

Various presentations were heard at the meeting, and discussions were held on determining implementation schedule for the project, proposals and measures to be taken on the project.
