In April 2020, electricity production in Azerbaijan amounted to 1923.6 million kWh, exports - 17.5 million kWh, and imports - 17.7 million kWh. In comparison with the same period in 2019, electricity production in April decreased by 112.2 million kWh, and exports - by 86.4 million kWh, while import increased by 6.5 million kWh.
In January-April of the current year, electricity production in the country increased by 68,2 million kWh in comparison with the same period last year and amounted to 8896,7 million kWh.
During the reporting period, electricity generation at TPPs increased by 189,2 mln kWh reaching to 8435,2 mln kWh, at HPPs decreased by 120,2 mln kWh reaching to 341,8 mln kWh, and at other sources (WPP, SPP and Solid household waste plant) decreased by 0.8 mln kWh reaching to 119.7 mln kWh in comparison with last year.  34.5 mln kWh of electricity was generated at WPPs, 13.4 mln kWh at SPPs, and 71.8 mln kWh at the solid household waste incineration plant.
In the four months of 2020 electricity generation made up 7985.8 mln kWh on "Azerenergy" OJSC (7689.9 mln kWh at TPPs, 295.9 mln kWh at HPPs), 114.1 mln kWh on State Energy Agency of Nakhchivan AR (62.7 mln kWh at TPPs, 39.9 mln kWh at HPPs, 11.5 mln kWh at SPP), and  796.8 mln kWh on Independent PPs.
During this period, electricity exports decreased by 116.4 mln kWh compared to the same period in 2019, amounting to 500.6 mln kWh.  Electricity imports decreased by 7.5 mln kWh compared to the same period last year, amounting to 44.7 mln kWh.
