Ministry of Energy has announced operational data on electricity for Azerbaijan in the first quarter of 2020

In the first quarter of 2020, electricity production in the country increased by 175.1 million kWh (2.57%) in comparison with the same period last year and amounted to 6,967.7 million kWh.

During the reporting period, electricity generation at TPPs increased by 257.3 mln kWh reaching to 6657.6 mln kWh, at HPPs decreased by 83.0 mln kWh reaching to 220.5 mln kWh, and at other sources (WPP, SPP and Solid household waste plant) increased by 0.9 mln kWh reaching to 89.7 mln kWh in comparison with first quarter last year. 24.9 mln kWh of electricity was generated at WPPs, 9.1 mln kWh at SPPs, and 55.6 mln kWh at the solid household waste incineration plant.

In the first quarter of 2020 electricity generation made up 6295.6 mln kWh on "Azerenergy" OJSC (6099.8 mln kWh at TPPs, 195.8 mln kWh at HPPs), 83.6 mln kWh on State Energy Agency of Nakhchivan AR (54.7 mln kWh at TPPs, 21.2 mln kWh at HPPs, 7.7 mln kWh at SPP), and  588.5 mln kWh on Independent PPs).

During the first quarter of 2020, electricity exports decreased by 29.9 mln kWh compared to the same period in 2019, amounting to 483.2 mln kWh. Electricity imports decreased by 14.0 mln kWh compared to the first quarter last year, amounting to 27.0 mln kWh.
