Minister of Energy received Executive Director of “Total” for Azerbaijan

Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov received Executive Director of “Total” for Azerbaijan Regis Agut. The current status related to the implementation of “Absheron” project and the issues of cooperation with “Total” company in the field of renewable energy sources were discussed during the meeting.

Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov highly appreciated the work carried out within the “Absheron” project and the role of this field with large gas-condensate reserves in meeting the domestic needs of the country. The minister also inquired about the company's plans for launching the production and the further stages of development.

Executive Director of “Total” for Azerbaijan Regis Agut described the “Absheron” project as the project meeting the interests of both parties. Total’s Executive Director informed about work carried out to start the production in the “Absheron” field, including drilling of the deepest well in the Caspian Sea. Regis Agut said that the production of the first gas in the field is scheduled for 2021.

Total’s role in the process of energy transformation and activity in the field of renewable energy sources were touched upon during the meeting.  The Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan and “Total Eren” company to develop renewable energy sector in Azerbaijan was also touched upon and the intention to continue cooperation with the company in renewable energy auctions was expressed.
