Minister of Energy has received Qatar`s Ambassador to Azerbaijan

Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Qatar  to the Republic of Azerbaijan Faisal Abdulla Al-Henzab.  At the meeting, prospects for further development of cooperation in the field of energy were discussed.

The Ambassador conveyed his congratulations  on the completion of the Southern Gas Corridor project and the beginning of the transportation of Azerbaijani natural gas to Europe, and stressed the contribution of this project to the energy security of Europe.

Taking into account less carbon emissions of natural gas into the atmosphere in the energy transition process, an important role of natural gas as transition fuel was noted at the meeting.  Opportunities for cooperation between the two countries in the field of renewable energy and energy efficiency were discussed. Information was provided on the work done in the direction of improving the legislative base in our country in both areas. It was stressed that steps were taken to attract private and foreign investments to the development of the energy sector and the importance of encouraging Qatar companies to participate in auctions to be held in the future in the field of renewable energy in the country.

A number of other issues of mutual interest were discussed at the meeting.
