Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov met with the delegation led by Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó. The Minister reminded his meeting with the Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade last year in Moscow within the International Forum “Russian Energy Week” where they discussed bilateral cooperation. He praised the current meeting as an opportunity for further cooperation.

Speaking about the current situation in Hungary's energy supply and demand for gas, Péter Szijjártó informed about his country’s plans for diversifying the gas market. He highlighted Hungary’s interest in joining the Southern Gas Corridor in the future.

The status of implementation of the Southern Gas Corridor, its potential for expansion, the possibility of increasing its transportation capacity and the gas fields under development were key issues discussed during the meeting.

It was proposed to establish a relevant working group within the Intergovernmental Commission to further contribute to the development of energy cooperation.

The meeting was followed by the exchange of views on other areas of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Hungary, as well as on regional energy security issues.
