Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov discussed prospects of energy cooperation with Iranian counterpart
A meeting in a video format has been held between Minister of Energy of Azerbaijan Parviz Shahbazov and Minister of Energy of Iran Rza Ardakanian. The issues included in bilateral and trilateral cooperation agenda in electric power field has been discussed at the meeting.
Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov has brought to the attention his position on the activities implemented in the field of electric power field and the next implementation processes in the field of joint projects with Iran and has evaluated the extension of the "Electricity Purchase Agreement" signed between Azerenergy OJSC and the Iranian company "Tavanir" until 2020 as a step supporting cooperation in this field.
Implementation status of Khudaferin and Maiden Tower hydro junctions and hydroelectric power stations, as well as Ordubad Hydroelectric Power Station projects have been discussed at the meeting. It was highlighted the importance of accelerating the work on these projects, and it was decided to hold meetings of relevant Technical Commissions in the near future.
Discussions were also held on the project on the construction of an electric power station on the border with Iran.
The importance of the establishment of the Azerbaijan, Iran and Russia energy corridor was noted for both countries. It was noted that Azerbaijan, Iran and Russia agreed on the development of the feasibility study for the coordination of electricity networks by the consulting and engineering company.
The prospects of electricity cooperation between Azerbaijan, Iran and Turkey were also touched upon at the meeting. It was considered pactical to continue intensive contacts on all issues.
