Minister of Energy met Deputy Assistant Secretary for the US Energy Diplomacy

Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov received the delegation headed by Kurt Donnelly Deputy Assistant Secretary for the US Energy Diplomacy visiting Baku to participate in the 6^th Ministerial Meeting within the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council.  The Minister highly appreciated the continuous support by the USA in bringing the Southern Gas Corridor to the final stage: “I express my gratitude to the USA for its support to both Southern Gas Corridor and all regional and international energy projects implemented on the initiative by Azerbaijan. Thanks to such a high-level cooperation the Southern Gas Corridor will be completely ready by the fall of 2020”.

The Minister shared his views on the indications of development on all the segments of the Southern Gas Corridor, its advantages as a diversification project, perspectives of enlargement and the improvement of the gas resources in the country.

Kurt Donnelly Deputy Assistant Secretary for the US Energy Diplomacy regarded the Southern Gas Corridor, which brings many countries and companies together as a significant project for the energy security and congratulated Azerbaijan for achieving to implement such a huge project.

At the meeting discussions were held on extending the Southern Gas Corridor to the Balkans, IAP project and other opportunities.

During the conversation, the recent work done to improve the alternative energy sources in Azerbaijan was mentioned. It was noted that the cooperation with the US Department of Energy would be efficient.
