According to operational data on electricity over January-August 2020, electricity production in Azerbaijan amounted to 2156.2 million kWh, exports - 97.86 million kWh, and imports - 7.3 million kWh in August. In comparison with the same period in 2019, electricity production in August decreased by 224.7 million kWh, imports by 3.5 million kWh and exports by 67.74 million kWh.
In January-August of the current year, electricity production in the country decreased by 131.1 million kWh in comparison with the same period last year and amounted to 17502.7 million kWh.
During the reporting period, electricity generation at TPPs increased by 231.2 mln kWh reaching to 16415.5 mln kWh, at HPPs decreased by 357.8 mln kWh reaching to 846.6 mln kWh, and at other sources (WPP, SPP and Solid household waste plant) decreased by 4.5 mln kWh reaching to 240.6 mln kWh in comparison with same period last year. 70.5 mln kWh of electricity was generated at WPPs, 33.1 mln kWh at SPPs, and 137.0 mln kWh at the solid household waste incineration plant.
In January-August electricity generation made up 15649.8 mln kWh on "Azerenergy" OJSC (14952.1 mln kWh at TPPs, 697.7 mln kWh at HPPs), 286.5 mln kWh on State Energy Agency of Nakhchivan AR (124.6 mln kWh at TPPs, 133.2 mln kWh at HPPs, 28.7 mln kWh at SPP), and 1566.4 mln kWh on Independent PPs).
During this period, electricity exports decreased by 111.1 mln kWh compared to the same period in 2019, amounting to 829.7 mln kWh. Electricity imports decreased by 9.7 mln kWh compared to the same period last year, amounting to 94.7 mln kWh.
