The Ministry of Energy had a meeting with the delegation led by Lawrence Meredith, Director of Eastern Neighborhood and Institutional Building in the General Directorate for Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations of the European Commission.

At the meeting, discussions were held on energy cooperation between Azerbaijan and EU, investment attraction in the field of renewable energy in Azerbaijan within the framework of the Economic and Investment Plan.

It was noted that the Memorandum of Understanding on strategic partnership in the energy field signed between Azerbaijan and the EU on 18 July 2022, and the strategy for the socio-economic development of Azerbaijan for 2022-2026 are the platforms for the identification of priority projects. It was emphasized that the production and export of green energy and green hydrogen, energy efficiency and reduction of methane emissions are reflected in both documents and the importance of financial support for the implementation of activities in these areas.

At the meeting, detailed information was given on renewable energy projects implemented with international energy companies, and export routes planned for the purpose of transporting the “green energy” to be produced, to achieve the development of the territories as a "green energy" zone with net zero emissions and to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 40% in 2050, and on the measures and plans implemented for this purpose and the works carried out in the field of energy efficiency. In this context, specific projects for which the financial support of the European Union is considered necessary have been proposed. Particularly, it was pointed out that financial and technical support cooperation regarding the Black Sea submarine power line, "green" hydrogen projects, building solar panels on the roofs of houses in liberated areas, building heat supply and energy efficiency in buildings is of great importance.
