First Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for the USA visited the Ministry of Energy

The Minister of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan Parviz Shahbazov has met with a delegation led by First Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for the USA Kent Logsdon. During the meeting, the sides discussed the 26^th International “Caspian Oil and Gas Exhibition 2019” and Conference, energy cooperation between the two countries, the Southern Gas Corridor and the latest developments in the energy sector of Azerbaijan.

Kent Logsdon emphasized the importance of the “Southern Gas Corridor” project in terms of energy security and Balkan energy supply and appreciated the implementation of the project.

The Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov noted that “Southern Gas Corridor” project is coming to an end, and the United States constantly supports the process. The Minister called the foundation of the Bulgaria-Greece Interconnection (IGB) as the beginning of the new stage of the project and spoke of the fields currently processed as additional sources that will supply the corridor in the future and of the resources of such fields.

The sides also discussed issues related to domestic gas demand, renewable energy sources and energy efficiency. In the process of expanding the use of renewable energy sources perspectives of cooperation with the United States were discussed.
