Minister of Energy spoke about Azerbaijan - Türkiye green energy partnership at Istanbul Energy Forum

Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov made a speech at the Ministerial Session on Challenges and Opportunities for a Sustainable Future within the First Istanbul Energy Forum. In his speech, the Minister emphasized the importance of regional and international energy cooperation in addressing modern energy challenges related to meeting growing energy demand, combating climate change and strengthening energy security.

In this context, it was noted that oil is supplied from Azerbaijan to about 30 countries, and from December 12 countries will be supplied with gas, and now this energy cooperation is expanding with renewable energy. 

 The role of energy initiatives of the COP29 presidency in accelerating the global green energy transition was also mentioned. It was noted that these initiatives are based on Azerbaijan's ambitious national and international programs in the field of renewable energy. The Minister said that as a result of large-scale green energy projects of 2 GW, implemented within the National Renewable Energy Development Program until 2027, there is an opportunity to export 1.2 bcm of gas freed up.

It was noted that the international program on the development of renewable energy consists of several green energy corridors projects. It was noted that the Azerbaijan-Türkiye- Europe, Caspian-Black Sea-Europe and Central Asia-Azerbaijan green energy corridors will strengthen regional energy cooperation in energy security and energy transition. Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov said: “Today, at the initiative of Bulgaria, we also discussed the possibility of supplying green energy from Georgia to Türkiye and then to Europe. All these interconnectors will contribute not only to energy security, but also to the acceleration of the global energy transition.” 

Representatives of Georgia, Hungary, Bulgaria, Moldova, Serbia, Uzbekistan and Libya also participated in the discussions moderated by Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar.
