Energy Minister discusses energy cooperation with Chinese and Iranian counterparts
Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov met with Zhang Jianhua, Head of the National Energy Administration of the People's Republic of China on the sidelines of the 3rd Belt and Road Energy Ministerial Conference. At the meeting, it was noted that the President of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev attaches special importance to the development of relations with China. In this regard, the role of the Joint Declaration, which raises Azerbaijani - Chinese relations to a strategic partnership, promotes the development of cooperation in the fields of oil and gas and renewable energy was discussed. It was also emphasized that the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of Energy signed between the Ministry of Energy and the National Energy Administration of the PRC covers all areas in the field of energy. Participation of China Energy Overseas Investment in the 160 MW solar power plant project, atracting Chinese companies including PowerChina Huadong Engineering Co. Ltd in the implementation of wind and solar energy projects were highly appreciated. The National Energy Administration supported the implementation of new projects on green energy with Chinese companies. During the conversation, the activity agenda of COP29 and China's active participation in the event were also touched upon.
Minister Parviz Shahbazov also met with Iranian Energy Minister Abbas Aliabadi. At the meeting the sides exchanged views on matters on the agenda of bilateral energy cooperation. The implementation status of Khudaferin and Giz Galasi, as well as Ordubad hydroelectric power plants was reviewed. The importance of accelerating the construction of hydroelectric power plants was noted. Discussions were also held on the Coordination of electricity networks of Azerbaijan, Iran and Russia. The trade and transportation opportunities of electricity were assessed in the field of establishing regional electric power links.
