Ministry of Energy calls for speeding up the appointment of energy managers

The Ministry of Energy calls on the heads of the economic entities and the owners of non-residential buildings to speed up the appointment of an energy manager who is responsible for the efficient use of energy in economic entities with an annual energy consumption of more than 1,000 toe, as well as in non-residential buildings with a construction area of at least 10,000 square meters or an annual energy consumption of more than 250 toe.

According to Article 279.0.3. of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Azerbaijan, a fine in the amount of 200 to 400 manats for individuals, in the amount of 1000 to 1500 manats for officials, and in the amount of 2500 to 3000 manats for legal entities is imposed for failure to appoint an energy manager.

The appointment of an energy manager is carried out by the Attestation Commission. The commission is created by the head of an economic entity or the owner of a non-residential building, consisting of 5 people. One of the members of the commission should be a representative of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Applications on nominating a candidate to the Attestation Commission for appointing an energy manager are accepted through the telephone numbers of the Ministry of Energy (012) 598-16-53/54/55, as well as the website www.minenergy.gov.az and the e-mail: minenergy@minenergy.gov.az .

It should be noted that the appointment of energy managers is regulated by the Requirements for the Energy Manager, as well as the Rule for Their Attestation, prepared in accordance with Article 8.2 of the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the Efficient Use of Energy Resources and Energy Efficiency and approved by the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan No 436 dated 8 December 2022.
