Azerbaijan-Türkiye energy cooperation was discussed
A bilateral meeting was held in Nakhchivan between delegations led by Minister of Energy of Azerbaijan Parviz Shahbazov and Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Türkiye Alparslan Bayraktar.
The issues on the agenda of energy cooperation were discussed at the meeting. The role of joint energy projects in energy security in the region and Europe was discussed. It was noted that the implementation of the Igdir-Nakhchivan gas pipeline and the export of electricity from Nakhchivan to Türkiye will further strengthen the Azerbaijani-Turkish energy partnership. For this purpose, the importance of accelerating the projects was emphasized and it was noted that the transportation of gas through Türkiye to Nakhchivan is planned for the end of the year. Also, the necessity of strengthening the relations between TEİAŞ and AZERENERGY OJSC was underlined. The joint activities of SOCAR and BOTAŞ in the direction of additional gas supplies to Europe were discussed at the meeting. During the conversation, the sides exchanged views on the signing of the Agreement between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Türkiye on Strengthening Cooperation in the Field of Energy, as well as the Regulation of the Clean Energy Center of the Economic Cooperation Organization, which will be located in Baku.
A meeting was also held with the participation of the ministers of both countries and the heads of 6 working groups operating within the Energy Forum. Reports of Joint Working Groups on hydrocarbon and petrochemical products, energy efficiency, electricity market, distribution and transmission of electricity, regulation, renewable energy and mining were heard at the meeting. Cooperation opportunities were assessed and steps to be taken in new directions were determined.
