According to operational data for January- May 2023, total electricity production in Azerbaijan amounted to 11886.5 million kWh. In comparison with the same period in 2022, electricity production increased by 629.3 million kWh (5.6 %) during 5 months.

In the reporting period, compared to January-May last year, electricity production at TPPs increased by 728.8 million kWh, amounting to 11055.1 million kWh, at HPPs decreased by 96.5 million kWh, amounting to 672.3 million kWh, and on other sources decreased by 3.0 million kWh, amounting to 159.1 million kWh. 26.4 mln kWh of electricity was generated at WPPs, 25.4 mln kWh at SPPs, and 107.3 mln kWh at the solid household waste incineration plant.

During five months, electricity generation made up 10667.4mln kWh on Azerenergy OJSC (10054.4 mln kWh at TPPs, 623.0 mln kWh at HPPs), 176.0 mln kWh on State Energy Agency of Nakhchivan AR (108.9 mln kWh at TPPs, 43.9 mln kWh at HPPs, 23.2 mln kWh at SPP), 20.3 mln kWh at WPPs on Azerishig OJSC, and 1022.8 mln kWh on Independent PPs).

In January-May 2023, compared to the same period in 2022, electricity imports decreased by 10.0 million kWh amounting to 50.3 million kWh, exports by 715.7 million kWh, amounting to 1 253.7 million kWh.

It should be noted that the generation of electricity in the republic in May this year compared to the same period in 2022 increased by 28.9 million kWh or 1.4%, amounting to 2034.3 million. kWh. During the month, imports of electricity production amounted to 9.2 million kWh, exports to 9.5 million kWh.
