Electricity production in the country increased by 4% last year

According to operational data, total electricity production in Azerbaijan amounted to 28988.5 million kWh in January-December 2022. In comparison with 2021, electricity production increased by 1113.2 million kWh (4 %).

During the reporting period, electricity generation at TPPs increased by 785.1 mln kWh reaching to 27043.3 mln kWh, at HPPs increased by 318.5 mln kWh reaching to 1595.7 mln kWh. At other sources (WPP, SPP and Solid household waste plant) electricity genertion was 349.5 mln kWh. Over 12 months, 83.3 mln kWh of electricity was generated at WPPs, 60.9 mln kWh at SPPs, and 205.3 mln kWh at the Solid Household Waste Incineration Plant.

During 2022, electricity generation made up 26186.9 million kWh on Azerenergy OJSC (24708.2 million kWh at TPPs, 1478.7 mln kWh at HPPs), 474.8 mln kWh on State Energy Agency of Nakhchivan AR (315.84 mln kWh at TPPs, 102.52 mln kWh at HPPs, 56.41 mln kWh at SPP), 62.6 mln kWh at WPPs on Azerishig OJSC, and 2264.2 million kWh on independent PPs.

During the year, electricity imports amounted to 137.1 million kWh while exports amounted to 3003.8 million kWh.

And in December 2022, compared with the same period in 2021, electricity production amounted to 2 724,1 million kWh by increasing 75 million kWh (5%).

Last month the electricity imports increased by 0.1 mln kWh amounting to 10.7 mln kWh compared to Dcember 2021, while the exports increased by 177.2 mln kWh amounting to 463 mln kWh.
