The first session of the Working Group between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of Hungary on Energy was held in Budapest, the capital of Hungary. 

Speaking at the meeting Zaur Mammadov - Head of the Working Group by Azerbaijan and Head of Staff of the Ministry of Energy shared his views on the current status and perspectives of energy cooperation between Azerbaijan and Hungary. It was said that Working Group on energy would contribute to the further expansion of this cooperation. Zaur Mammadov noted the importance of studying Hungary's experience on geothermal energy and holding joint events.

Pal Sagvari - Head of the Working Group by Hungary and ambassador-at-large for energy security on special tasks welcomed the successful impementation of the Sothern Gas Corridor project and Azerbaijan`s leading role in it. Pal Sagvari also expressed Hungary`s interest in the development of cooperation with Azerbaijan.

The importance of organizing events between two countries, of exchange of mutual experience and conducting investment cooperation in the field of energy, of the expansion of cooperation in the areas of marketing and trading, including supplies of crude oil and oil products was highlighted at the meeting. It was agreed to implement joint activities on exploring the opportunities of the cooperation in the field of renewable energy sources and energy efficiency, as well as in the sphere of transportation and distribution of natural gas in future between Azerbaijan and Hungary. The sides expressed their support to the development of a strategic partnership between SOCAR  and MOL.

A Protocol was signed on the outcomes of the first session of Working Group on energy. The Protocol was signed by the Heads of Woking Group, Zaur Mammadov and Pal Sagvari. It was decided to hold the second session of the Working Group in Azerbaijan.
