The Deputy Minister of Energy Kamal Abbasov participated in the virtual event Voice of Global South Summit 2023 organized during India's G20 presidency.

During his speech at the session called "Energy Security and Development: Road Map of Prosperity” , the Deputy Minister said that during the period of the most complex energy crisis in history, when energy security has become the main issue of the global agenda, and inter-country relations on energy exports and imports have been renewed, Azerbaijan is not only a stable energy supplier, but also a reliable partner, which increases its contribution to global energy security: “Today, Azerbaijan is not only strengthening its energy independence but also taking steps that will diversify the energy mix of its partners with green sources in addition to oil, natural gas and electricity. Our country is a source of the Southern Gas Corridor with proven gas reserves of 2.6 trillion cubic meters and of the green energy corridor with renewable energy resources of 27GW onshore and 157GW offshore, as well as the initiator of global cooperation formats in the field of energy“.

During the speech, it was also noted that the role of Azerbaijan in the international arena is based on the energy security policy. It was emphasized that today Azerbaijan has no dependence on any country or energy resources, and has access to regional and European markets.

The Deputy Minister also noted that by 2030, it is aimed to increase the share of renewable energy sources in the power generation capacity of Azerbaijan to 30%.

It should be noted that the Summit, at the opening of which Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke, consisted of 10 sessions for 2 days and brought together representatives from about 120 countries of the world.
