The Minister congratulated the Ambassador on starting the diplomatic activity in our country and wished success.
During the meeting, Parviz Shahbazov informed the Ambassador about the latest military provocations of Armenia against our country and counter-attack operations carried out by Azerbaijan in its territory. It was noted that despite the agreement on the humanitarian cease-fire, the Armenian armed forces attacked settlements outside the frontline zone, including the death of peaceful citizens of the second largest city of Azerbaijan, Ganja as a result of missile strikes and targeting of strategic energy facilities such as the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline and the Mingachevir Hydroelectric Power Plant.
The Minister underlined the close cooperation in the energy sector with Japanese companies such as INPEX, ITOCHU, Mitsui, Sumitomo, TEPSCO, JOKMEC, and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and financial organization such as JBIC, NEXI, the Japanese companies' involvement in Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline, Southern Gas Corridor, North-1, North-2 thermal power plants and other projects and added that there are new prospects for future cooperation in this direction. It was noted that the country is planning to hold auctions in the field of renewable energy and invite Japanese companies to participate.
Japanese Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Azerbaijan Junichi Wada said that his country is interested in expanding cooperation with Azerbaijan in the field of energy, adding that he would spare no efforts to develop these relations.
