Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov: President Ilham Aliyev is the ideologist and the strongest supporter of the transformation of Azerbaijan into a country of "green growth" and "green energy" zones

The event on “Ilham Aliyev and energy policy of independent Azerbaijan” was held at the Ministry of Energy on the occasion of the 60th birth anniversary of President Ilham Aliyev, heir to the political course of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, influential Head of State, brilliant leader of modern times and Supreme Commander-in-Chief.

Speaking at the event, Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov spoke about the historical services of President Ilham Aliyev to our people, state and humanity in general and drew attention to his high qualities as a decisive leader who brought our independent state to the most powerful renaissance in history, a strong personality who managed to solve the problem of two centuries with clear development direction defined by National Leader Heydar Aliyev. It was noted that it was President Ilham Aliyev's foreign policy and global initiatives that increased our country's influence in the system of international relations and brought it the status of a new geopolitical power center in the region. Under his leadership, Azerbaijan creates an example of tolerance, multiculturalism and a spirit of respect among different cultures all over the world.

The speech also drew attention to the rapid development of the Azerbaijani economy: “Over the past 18 years, gross domestic product has increased more than three times. The poverty rate has dropped from 49 to 6 per cent and more than 2 million jobs have been created. Unemployment in the country is at the level of about 6 per cent. 280 billion USD has been invested in Azerbaijan's economy.”

It was noted that the planned and consistent work carried out under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, who formed the victorious army, raised the Azerbaijani army to the rank of 50 strongest armies in the world.

Information was provided about the far-sighted policy of the Head of State, which has turned Azerbaijan into a reliable partner in global energy security, and it was emphasized that thanks to this policy, the objectives of the “Oil Strategy”, which guarantees the economic independence of our country, its return to the world energy system as an energy country and its development: "The Azerbaijani model is more rational in its approach to energy security. This is the diversification of energy resources, energy supply and supply markets. It is about choosing a balance between energy security and environmental safety. It is the energy policy of the President of Azerbaijan that quickly takes into account the predicted challenges of the world and is the guarantor of the energy security of our country.”

             Noting that the Head of State's “green energy” course opened a new page in the development of Azerbaijan as an energy country in line with modern global trends, the Minister said that President Ilham Aliyev is the ideologist and the strongest supporter of the transformation of Azerbaijan into a country of “green growth” and “green energy” zones.

It was also emphasized that by liberating our lands from enemy occupation, the President of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev fulfilled the most high, sacred will and wish of the Great Leader and reached the peak of victory as the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan.

A video clip devoted to the 60th birth anniversary of President Ilham Aliyev was demonstrated at the event, speeches were made on the socio-political activities of the Head of State, progressive steps taken to strengthen public administration and civil service policy, reforms carried out in the development of oil and gas, electricity and renewable energy sectors.

Senior officials of the Ministry of Energy, Azerbaijan Renewable Energy Agency and Azerbaijan Energy Regulatory Agency under the Ministry took part at the event.
