A meeting with the Chairperson of the Italian delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE PA), Deputy Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee at the Chamber of Deputies of the Italian Parliament Paolo Grimoldi was held at the Ministry of Energy.

The Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov underlined the important role of energy cooperation within multilateral cooperation between the two countries. As reported, Italy has been one of the key buyers of Azerbaijani oil so far, and now Azerbaijani gas will be exported to this country via the Southern Gas Corridor. He hailed the level of implementation of the TAP project and highly appreciated the position of the Italian government in this regard. The Minister emphasized that the TAP project will not only serve as the new source of gas for Italy, but it will also help to shape affordable price formation for consumers of the natural gas and contribute to the de-carbonization targets.

Paolo Grimoldi appraised the TAP pipeline as a project that meets the interests of both countries. According to him, TAP will facilitate for development of not only the economic ties but also political relations. The Chairperson of the Italian Delegation of OSCE PA further added that "Italy is interested in investing in the fields such as energy and technology in Azerbaijan and further developing the cooperation in these areas."

The involvement of Italian companies in other sectors was also in spotlight, and the parties continued exchange of their views on cooperation within the Intergovernmental Commission.
