Electricity production in the country increased by 7.7% in the first 3 months of this year
According to operational data for January- March 2023, total electricity production in Azerbaijan amounted to 7756.2 million kWh. In comparison with the same period in 2022, electricity production increased by 551.7million kWh (7.7%) during 3 months.
In the reporting period, compared to January-March last year, electricity production at TPPs increased by 527.3 million kWh, amounting to 7387.4 million kWh, at HPPs increased by 24.7 million kWh, amounting to 277.9 million kWh, and on other sources (WPP, SPP and Solid Household Waste Incineration Plant) decreased by 0.3 million kWh, amounting to 90.9 million kWh. 15.5 mln kWh of electricity was generated at WPPs, 13.4 mln kWh at SPPs, and 62.0 mln kWh at the solid household waste incineration plant.
During three months, electricity generation made up 7043.4 mln kWh on Azerenergy OJSC (6781.1 mln kWh at TPPs, 262.3 mln kWh at HPPs), 87.3 mln kWh on State Energy Agency of Nakhchivan AR (61.5 mln kWh at TPPs, 13.6 mln kWh at HPPs, 12.2 mln kWh at SPP), 11.8 mln kWh at WPPs on Azerishig OJSC, and 613.7 mln kWh on Independent PPs).
In January-March 2023, electricity imports amounted to 31.3 million kWh, exports to 1 238.9 million kWh.
It should be noted that the production of electricity in the Republic in March this year compared to the same period in 2022 increased by 269.4 million kWh or 11.7%, amounting to 2579.3 million. kWh. During the month, imports of electricity production amounted to 10.2 million kWh, exports to 402.9 million kWh.
