Electricity production increased in Azerbaijan
According to operational data on electricity for April 2022, total electricity production in Azerbaijan amounted to 2046.0 million kWh. In comparison with the same period in 2021, electricity production increased by 23.1 million kWh (1.2 %).
In April, the electricity imports decreased by 5.1 mln kWh amounting to 10.0 mln kWh compared to the same period 2021, while the exports decreased by 36.0 mln kWh amounting to 11.0 mln kWh.
In total, the electricity production in the republic increased by 292.2 mln kWh, namely 3.3 % compared to the same period last year, amounting to 9240.1 mln kWh in January-April 2022.
During the reporting period, electricity generation at TPPs increased by 232.6 mln kWh reaching to 8621.3 mln kWh, at HPPs increased by 52.2 mln kWh reaching to 492.6 mln kWh, and at other sources (WPP, SPP and Solid household waste plant) increased by 7.4 mln kWh reaching to 126.2 mln kWh in comparison with January-April last year. 32.2 mln kWh of electricity was generated at WPPs, 18.0 mln kWh at SPPs, and 76.0 mln kWh at the Solid Household Waste Incineration Plant.
During the quarter, electricity generation made up 8350.5 million kWh on "Azerenergy" OJSC (7887.5 million kWh at TPPs, 463.0 mln kWh at HPPs), 116.26 mln kWh on State Energy Agency of Nakhchivan AR (73.9 mln kWh at TPPs, 25.7 mln kWh at HPPs, 16.64 mln kWh at SPP), 20.1 mln kWh at WPPs on Azerishig OJSC, and 753.2 million kWh on independent PPs.
In January-April 2022, the electricity exports decreased by 35.4 mln kWh compared to the same period of 2021, amounting to 518.6 mln kWh. During this period, electricity imports increased by 6.6 mln kWh compared to the same period last year, amounting to 40.7 mln kWh.
