Green energy projects and grid study were discussed with China Energy
A meeting was held between Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov and a delegation led by Lin Xiaodan, Executive President of China Energy International Group.
During the meeting, the progress of the study of Azerbaijan’s electricity transmission grid, being conducted within the framework of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the Electric Power Planning & Engineering Institute (EPPEI) of the People’s Republic of China, was discussed. The work carried out on the modelling phase of the study, completion of the power system analysis and preparation of the final report was reviewed. It was noted that the findings of the study are of significant importance for determining the grid’s capacity to accommodate additional renewable energy capacity and for planning the phased development of future renewable energy projects.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on matters arising from the implementation of a 160 MW solar power plant, envisaged as China Energy’s first investment project in Azerbaijan, as well as a wind energy project in the Caspian Sea.
