Minister of Energy meets with delegation led by the U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Economic, Energy and Business Affairs

A meeting was held between Azerbaijan's Minister of Energy, Parviz Shahbazov, and a delegation led by Caleb Orr, the U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Economic, Energy and Business Affairs.

The Minister thanked Caleb Orr for participating in Baku Energy Week. He noted that the documents signed during the event reflected a new stage in the development of the Azerbaijan–U.S. energy partnership. It was emphasized that energy cooperation between Azerbaijan and the United States is of a strategic nature and that the long-standing partnership in the oil and gas sector has been a key pillar of bilateral relations. It was further noted that projects such as the Baku–Tbilisi–Ceyhan (BTC) Pipeline and the Southern Gas Corridor, implemented with U.S. support, have made a significant contribution to Europe's energy security.

Caleb Orr stated that the United States holds Azerbaijan's role in the global energy market in high regard. He noted that Azerbaijan is the birthplace of the modern oil industry and expressed appreciation for both Azerbaijan and its President for the effective management of the country's energy resources. It was also stated that, alongside artificial intelligence, digital technologies, infrastructure, and the development of trade corridors, energy is one of the priority areas for the inaugural meeting of the Azerbaijan–U.S. Economic Dialogue.

The meeting also covered the activities of U.S. companies in Azerbaijan's energy sector in light of the continuing pivotal role of oil and gas in the global energy mix. The parties discussed prospective cooperation on new exploration and production projects involving Chevron and ExxonMobil, as well as future collaboration in the development of energy infrastructure. They also reviewed cooperation prospects related to the energy component of the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity, along with regional electricity interconnector projects.
