An event dedicated to the 103rd anniversary of Great Leader Heydar Aliyev was held

An event dedicated to the 103rd anniversary of the birth of the National Leader Heydar Aliyevwas held at the Ministry of Energy.

Speaking at the event, Azerbaijan’s Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov described the life of the Great Leader as a remarkable example of devoted service to his people, state, and national interests. It was emphasized that he was not only a political leader, but also the architect of modern Azerbaijani statehood and a symbol of strategic vision and farsighted policy. It was noted that, owing to Heydar Aliyev’s exceptional statesmanship, unwavering determination, and strategically calculated decisions aimed at long-term national goals, independent Azerbaijan was able to overcome crisis and embark upon a new path of development. His invaluable services and policies directed toward the dynamic development of Azerbaijan as a democratic state governed by the rule of law, the establishment of a modern governance model, the training of highly qualified personnel, the promotion of the country’s rich history, culture, and intellectual heritage worldwide, as well as the strengthening of Azerbaijan’s international image, were highlighted.

In the speech, it was further stated that despite numerous challenges, Heydar Aliyev laid the strategic foundations for Azerbaijan’s energy independence through the achievements in the electric power and oil industries. The Contract of the Century signed in 1994 and regarded as a turning point in Azerbaijan’s energy history, was described not merely as an economic project, but also as Azerbaijan’s entry into the international energy system. It was emphasized that, thanks to the oil strategy initiated by the Great Leader, Azerbaijan secured its place on the global energy map and achieved integration into the international energy market. Significant foreign investments were attracted to the country, and Azerbaijan became a reliable energy partner. Oil and gas export routes were diversified, enabling the country to assume an important role in global energy security. It was also emphasized that today Azerbaijan is not only a traditional energy exporter. “Green energy projects are being implemented in our country, wind and solar power plants are being constructed, energy corridors are being developed, and regional and global energy cooperation is deepening. These processes once again demonstrate that the energy policy defined by Heydar Aliyev serves not only as a legacy of the past, but also as a roadmap for the present and the future. If today we have a strong, independent Azerbaijan with ensured energy security and live in a country that holds an influential position in the world, this is precisely the result of the farsighted policy of the Great Leader,” the Minister stated.

It was underscored that the Great Leader’s nation-building mission and strategic course of development are being successfully continued today by his worthy successor, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. It was noted that the Head of State has transformed all the hopes of the National Leader into reality and achieved historic accomplishments. Under his leadership, Azerbaijan has become even stronger, the country’s independence has been further consolidated, its socio-economic potential has increased, and a powerful army has been established. Owing to this strength, Azerbaijan’s territories were liberated from occupation, and the country’s territorial integrity and sovereignty were fully restored.

Today, the ideas of Heydar Aliyev continue to live on, and the path defined by him is leading the country toward even greater achievements and a stronger Azerbaijan.

The event also featured speeches by Ministry employees highlighting Heydar Aliyev’s outstanding contributions. The event concluded with the screening of a video dedicated to the life and activities of the National Leader.
