The second meeting of the Joint Working Group on energy cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Czech Republic in a hybrid format was held.

During the meeting, the current status of bilateral cooperation across various areas of the energy sector, as well as future development prospects were discussed. It was emphasized that the well-established and reliable partnership between Azerbaijan and the Czech Republic in the field of energy constitutes one of the key pillars of bilateral relations. It was noted that Azerbaijan makes a significant contribution to the Czech Republic’s energy security by supplying a substantial share of the country’s oil demand.

At the meeting, the strategic importance of expanding the Southern Gas Corridor in terms of energy security and diversification of natural gas supplies of the European Union was emphasized, and interest in using this corridor in gas supply to the Czech market was expressed.

The meeting further reviewed opportunities for expanding cooperation in the areas of energy security, diversification of energy supplies, green energy transition, and energy efficiency.

Czech companies with ESCO experience in the field of energy efficiency were invited to participate in a roundtable to be held on 2 June 2026 within the framework of Baku Energy Week, aimed at facilitating direct engagement between international ESCO companies and major energy consumers of Azerbaijan.

In conclusion, the protocol of the second session of the Joint Working Group was signed.
