Within the COP29, the Clean Energy Center for the ECO region (CECECO) was established in Azerbaijan together with the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). 
Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov said: “Today, within the framework of COP29, we witness the establishment of the ECO-UNIDO Clean Energy Center in Baku. This is a strategically significant initiative not only for Azerbaijan but for all ECO member states. The launch of the Center will further strengthen Azerbaijan's and ECO countries' leadership efforts in the energy sector, promote regional cooperation, and accelerate the transition to renewable energy sources. By fostering the integration of regional energy networks, such as the Azerbaijan-Turkiye-Europe and Central Asia-Azerbaijan green energy corridors, we are enhancing ECO's role in energy security and the fight against climate change, creating a unified strategic platform to achieve zero-emission goals”. 
Dr. Asad M. Khan, Secretary General of ECO briefed about the recent mainstreaming of sustainable energy transition in the overall energy agenda of ECO. He underscored the establishment of the ECO Clean Energy Centre in Baku, being jointly implemented with UNIDO, as yet another explicit example of such endeavours paving the way for this transformation process.  ECO Secretary General called for a continuous regional dialogue on advancement of the sustainable energy agenda and speeding up the resource mobilization for the ECO Clean Energy Centre.
UNIDO Deputy to the Director General and Managing Director Directorate of Technical Cooperation and Sustainable Industrial Development Mr. Ciyong Zou highlighted the unwavering commitment of the ECO Member States to address the pressing challenges of climate change and energy security. He emphasized that CECECO will serve as a hub for innovation, collaboration, and capacity-building, driving the transition to clean energy across the region. CECECO will spearhead south-south and triangular cooperation on energy solutions, integrating development, energy security, and climate resilience”.
The ministers of ECO Member States, international financial institutions such as OFID, Abu Dhabi Foundation, Asian Development Bank, Islamic Development Bank and Eurasian Development Bank were also represented at the event.
