Within the targets of the "Strategy of Socio-Economic development of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2022-2026" for 2023, the general report on the monitoring and evaluation of the first half of the current year for the purpose of "Green energy space" was discussed in the "Green energy space" working group in a hybrid format.

Chairman of the Working Group, Deputy Minister of Energy Elnur Soltanov spoke about the measures envisaged in National Priority "Clean environment and "Green growth" country" in the "2022-2026 socio-economic development strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan" and stressed that one of the main target indicators is to increase the share of renewable energy sources in the installed capacity of electricity. In addition to the purpose of "Green energy space“, relevant measures have been taken to create a "green energy" zone in the liberated territories and Nakhchivan.

Then, Deputy Chairman of the Working Group, Deputy Executive Director of the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication (CAERC) Ramil Huseyn presented the progress report on the “green energy” space. He said that a good foundation has been formed for sustainable development in this area.

At the meeting, the measures taken in connection with the activities and targets for the purpose of the “green energy space” were brought to the attention, views were exchanged on improving the regulatory environment in the energy sector, increasing the use of renewable energy sources, attracting foreign investors to this area, integrating new generation powers into the energy system and other issues. The opinions of the members of the Working Group on the report were heard, and it was considered expedient to improve the report project taking into account suggestions and recommendations.

In addition to the Ministry of Energy and CAERC, the Green Energy Space Working Group included representatives of the Ministries of Economy, Ecology and Natural Resources, Agriculture, Digital Development and Transport, Finance, Emergency Situations, SOCAR, Central Bank, Azerbaijan Investment Holding, State Statistics Committee, State Urban Planning and Architecture Committee, State Customs Committee, Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, Azersu, Melioration and Water Management, Azerenergy, Azerishig, Azeristiliktechizat OJSCs.

It should be noted that by the Order of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated 12 June 2023, 8 Working Groups were established in order to ensure the full, timely and effective implementation of the measures provided for in the Socio-Economic Development Strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2022-2026 and to coordinate the activities of the relevant state authorities.
