Road Map for the development of energy cooperation for 2023-2025 was signed
A meeting was held between the Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov and the delegation led by the Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov to deepen cooperation between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan in the field of energy.
At the meeting, the strategic course of the Heads of States reflecting the comprehensive development and strengthening of relations between our countries in all areas was mentioned, and it was noted that this policy opened a new page in the development of energy cooperation. The implementation of the agreements on cooperation in the field of energy in recent years, the recent meeting of the Working Group in Tashkent, discussions on various projects between the relevant Ministries of both countries, as well as institutions operating in the field of oil and gas and electricity were noted as positive points.
Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov said that Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan has ample opportunities for multiliteral energy cooperation and strong political will from the leaders of both countries to support the realization of this potential: “We believe that our joint fruitful work will result in the implementation of numerous energy projects over the next two years.”
The Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan, Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov, also emphasized that the energy cooperation of our countries has reached a new stage, in this regard, the joint activity of SOCAR and "Ozbekneftegaz" JSC, as well as perspective cooperation related to electric energy, especially "green energy", will contribute to the strengthening of the energy partnership.
Within the meeting, the Road map for the expansion of cooperation in the energy sector between the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2023-2025 was signed. The road map, covering 14 directions, provides for cooperation in the geological exploration and production of hydrocarbon resources in both countries, the creation of joint ventures. According to the document, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan will also cooperate in the exchange of information and experience on renewable energy, energy sector reforms, efficient use of energy resources, energy transition, decarbonization, hydrogen production. Also, in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding signed on 26 July 2023 between Uzbekistan National Electric Networks JSC and Azerenergy OJSC, the continuation of cooperation between the system operators of both countries is reflected in the road map as one of the main activities.
