On the Energy Day within the COP29, 15 events were held with the participation of the Ministry of Energy

On 15 November, on the Energy Day within the COP29 conference, 15 events were held with the participation of the Ministry of Energy. Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov delivered a speech at the Investment Forum on Energy Transition for Central Asia, Ministerial Meeting on COP29 Energy Initiatives and the Clean Energy Center for the OIC region.

Deputy Minister Kamal Abbasov participated in the events on Decarbonizing the Oil and Gas Industry at Pace, SOCAR’s Decarbonization Progress: Challenges and Achievements , and OGMP 2.0 High-Level Roundtable that was co-hosted by SOCAR, IMEO and the European Commission. Speaking at GECF Ministerial Meeting on Natural Gas for Sustainable Development, the Deputy Minister noted the important role of natural gas in sustainable development, ensuring energy security and implementing a fair energy transition. Speeches of representatives of various countries and organizations in such areas as energy security, accessibility and the protection of the environment were heard at the event.

Speaking at the Thematic Event - Accelerating Global Climate Action through Reliable Renewable Energy Substitution organized in the pavillion of UNFCCC, Deputy Minister Samir Valiyev emphasized that Azerbaijan supports global efforts to ensure sustainable energy supply and that strengthening renewable energy sources plays an important role in the fight against climate change.

The Deputy Minister also participated in the event on Mobilization of Law Enforcement Agencies in the fight against climate change organized by the Prosecutor General office of the Republic of Azerbaijan with the participation of senior officials of foreign law enforcement agencies, international organizations, relevant state bodies, leading higher education institutions and representatives of the private sector.

Deputy Minister of energy Orkhan Zeynalov spoke about Azerbaijan's strategic goals in the field of renewable energy at the events entitled Renewable Energy Horizons: Paths to a Greener Future and CEO Leadership on Utilities for Net Zero Alliance (UNEZA) co-organized by IRENA. It was noted that the energy sector in our country is developed on the basis of the principles of environmental sustainability and the fight against climate change, and cooperation with international partners plays an important role in accelerating the transition to green energy in Azerbaijan.

Speaking at the event "Beyond generation: Building infrastructure to achieve energy transition goals" organized by SOCAR and Atlantic Council Global Energy Center, Deputy Minister of Energy, Chief Executive Officer of COP 29 Elnur Soltanov stressed the strategic importance of building sustainable and diversified energy infrastructures for Azerbaijan and said that this is one of the important steps towards accelerating energy transition, reducing carbon emissions and enabling ecological security.

Director of AREA Javid Abdullayev and Head of AERA Samir Akhundov participated at the Presentation of Green Growth Portal organized by Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Harvard Growth Lab.

Speaking at the event on Connecting Grids, Connecting Continents: Learning from the Case of the MENA-Europe Great Sea Interconnector, the Director of AREA Javid Abdullayev spoke about Azerbaijan's initiatives to create green energy corridors stretching from Central Asia to Europe. The director also attended at the presentation ceremony of the Road Map of the Azerbaijan Cement Producers Association.
